HCC Daily Scoreboard: Wednesday June 11

Here is your Hoosier Crossroads Conference daily scoreboard for June 11, the final scoreboard of the school year.

Boys Golf
State Finals: Final Round @ The Legends of Indiana – Two of the four conference teams competing in the state finals recorded top-3 finishes. #1 Avon shot a team-total 584 and finished as state runner-up to #2 Cathedral. The Fighting Irish of Cathedral shot a two-day total of 562. #8 Lafayette Jefferson received third-place medalions with a score of 591. #13 Hamilton Southeastern came home in fifith-place with a score of 603, and #15 Noblesville finished seventh with a 614-total. Avon freshman Patrick Rodgers recorded the conference’s best individual performance, finishing in a four-way tie for fifth-place at even-par. HCC Daily Scoreboard: Tuesday June 10

Softball
4A State Semifinals: #2 McCutcheon 4, LaPorte 1 (The game was resumed from Monday when it was halted due to rain after four-innings of play with McCutcheon leading 4-0.)

4A State Championship: McCutcheon 2, #6 Franklin Central 1
– The Mavericks overcame a 1-0 deficit by scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth-inning to caputure the school’s first-ever softball state championship. (Please check back later in the coming days for wall-to-wall coverage of McCutcheon’s state title, including an article by Alex Kirby and video from Eric Eaton. Included in the video will be nightime video of the team arriving back at McCutcheon High School via firetruck. It’s video that you surely won’t want to miss!)

Boys Golf
State Finals: 1st Round @ The Legends of Indiana – All four HCC teams competing in this year’s state finals managed to advance to the second round of competition. Here’s a look at how the conference teams stand going into the final round of play: #1 Avon-2nd (+9), #8 Lafayette Jefferson-3rd (+19), #15 Noblesville-7th (+23), #13 Hamilton Southeastern-9th (+24).  Second-ranked Cathedral shot a blazing  six-under-par in the opening round and leads Avon by 10 shots with round to play. Also, Zionsville sophomore Graham Singer, who had qualified as and individual, shot an opening-round 82 (+12) and didn’t advance to the second round. (Note: Tuesday’s opening-round of play was supspended due to darkeness and finished up Wednesday morning.)

B&G XC: Noblesville to host Hokum Karum meet

Attention all Indiana High School cross country coaches: Noblesville High School is accepting teams to particpate in the Noblesville High School Hokum Karum on August 30, 2008. If interested please contact Noblesville High School Athletic Director Steve Hurst at steve_hurst@mail.nobl.k12.in.us.

Event Information:

Saturday, August 30, 2008  – Noblesville HS Hokum Karum (formerly Warren Central HK) for boys and / or girls teams. Two divisions of competition beginning at 10 AM at Noblesville’s White River cross country course.

Singles State Finals from Five Seasons Sports Club in Indianapolis – (Rain forced the event to be moved indoors)
Semifinals: Courtney Wild, freshman, Carmel (16-3, 9-0), def. Christina Riley, junior, Avon (15-0, 8-1), 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 7-6 (7-5)

Avon Coach Stan Malless on Riley’s semifinal loss – “It was a tough match. I mean a 3-hour match, (that) went to a tiebreaker in the third. The freshman Courtney Wild played really, really well and smart, and hurt her with a lot of deep lobs. I think you had a freshman that was playing with the right frame of mind, her first time out and nothing to lose, and she played like it.”

Consolation match: Mary
Hill, 11, Munster (17-0, 10-1) def.

Championship match:
Caroline Hedrick, sophomore, Columbus North (17-0, 8-0), def. Courtney

4A State Semifinals from Cherry Tree Elementray School in Carmel – ( All games scheduled for Saturday were postponed to Monday)

Semifinal #1: #6 Franklin Central 5, #12 East Central 0 (2)  – (The game will be resumed Monday at 1:30 P.M.)
Semifinal #2: #2 McCutcheon vs. LaPorte – (Will follow the conclusion of the first semifinal and should get underway sometime between 2:30 and 3:00 P.M. The championship game will played Monday, June 9, at 7:00 P.M. from the same location as the semifinals.

HCC Daily Scoreboard: Friday June 6

Here is your Hoosier Crossroads Conference daily scoreboard for June 6

Boys Golf
Lafayette Jefferson Regional @ Battle Ground Country Club –  The host #8 Bronchos took first-place with a score of 315 and advance as a team to the state finals June 10-11 at The Legends of Indiana in Franklin. Lafayette Jeff was led at the regional by Jacob Wagner, who shot a 76.

Muncie Central Regional @ The Players Club – #13 Hamilton Southeastern won the regional with a score of 317, and #15 Noblesville finished in second-place just one-stroke higher. Both teams advance to the state finals June 10-11 at The Legends of Indiana in Franklin. Southeastern was led by Wes Bowman’s 77, and Charlie Castino paced Noblesville with a 76.

Girls Tennis
Individual State Finals @ North Central High School

Singles Tournament (quarterfinals) –  Avon junior Christina Riley defeated Silver Creek’s Sarah Hebble 6-2, 6-1. Riley advances to the semifinals where she will meet Carmel freshman Courtney Wild at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday. Riley is 15-0 on the season and Wild is 16-3. The championship match of the singles tournament is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M.

Softball
4A State Semifinals from Cherry Tree Elementary School in Carmel – #2 McCutcheon’s game versus LaPorte was postponed until Saturday due to weather. The game will follow the conclusion of game #1 between #12 East Central and #6 Franklin Central, and should get started sometime between 11:00 A.M. and noon.
