HCC Daily Scoreboard: Saturday, Sept. 20

Here is your Hoosier Crossroads Conference Daily Scoreboard for Saturday, September 20.

Girls Golf 
Anderson Highland Sectional @ Grandview Golf Course – The HCC swept the top three positions, and all three teams will advance to the New Castle Regional on September 27. Top-ranked Hamilton Southeastern won the sectional with a score of 304. #9 Noblesville (314) finished second, and #19 Fishers (338) finished third to take the final regional qualifying spot. Noblesville junior Meghan Potee took the medalist honors with a round of four-under-par 69.

Brownsburg Sectional @ West Chase – #4 Avon shot a team total 308 and finished runner-up to #2 Martinsville, which posted a winning score of 306. Avon now advances as a team to the Martinsville Regional on September 27. Brownsburg shot a team score 360, and finished in 5th place and will not advance to the regional as a team. Individually, Avon’s Breanna Patz shot a 67 and finished runner-up to Martinsville’s Carleigh Silvers who carded a 65. In addition, Brownsburg’s Alicia King secured a spot as an individual at the regional with a round of 80. 

Lafayette Jefferson Sectional @ Lafayette Municipal – #16 Lafayette Jefferson shot a 320 to win the sectional, and Harrison finished runner-up with score of 370. Both schools advance as teams to the Lafayette Jefferson Regional on September 27. McCutcheon missed qualifying for the regional by one spot, finishing in fourth place with a 388. Individually, Harrison’s Michelle Boone was the runner-up at the sectional with a score of 77. Carroll (Flora) senior Megan Garrison was the medalist with a 72.

#1 Singles: Zionsville’s Andrew Kahn defeated Hamilton Southeastern’s Austin Woldmoe 3-6, 4-0 (retired). Woldmoe, who was the top-seed, had to call it quits in the second set after developing a severe leg cramp in what was a a very warm afternoon for tennis.

Boys Cross Country
FlashRock Invitational
Blue Division: #8 Westfield finished second to #12 Columbus North with 88 points. Columbus North posted a winning score of 82 points. Here are the rest of the conference results from this race: Hamilton Souhteastern-5th (165), Brownsburg-11th (276), and Lafayette Jefferson-17th (467).

Green Division: Here are the HCC results from this race: #14 Fishers-2nd (89), #13 Zionsville-4th (97), #15 Noblesville-5th (104), and Avon-11th 304. #10 Franklin Central won the team competition with a score of 79 points. Individually, Zionsville senior Dylan Sorensen won the race with a time of 15:22.

New Prairie Invitational – #3 McCutcheon posted a score of 113 points and finished runner-up to #2 Carroll (Allen) which totaled 107 points. Harrison (West Lafayette) finished in 21st place with a score of 507 points.

Girls Cross Country
FlashRock Invitational
Blue Divison: #7 Noblesville won this race with a score of 58 points. Here are the other HCC team results from the race: Brownsburg-5th (138), Fishers-6th (174), #20 Hamilton Southeastern-7th (196), and Lafayette Jefferson-11th (294).

Green Division: Here are the conference results from this race: #10 Westfield-2nd (69), Avon-8th (282), and Zionsville-9th (293). #6 Columbus North won the team competition with a score of 65 points.

New Prairie Invitational – Harrison was 19th with 472 points and McCutcheon was 29th with 865 points in the 32-team field. #5 Lake Central won the event with a score of 128 points.

HCC Daily Scoreboard: Friday, Sept. 19

Here is your Hoosier Crossroads Conference Daily Scoreboard for Friday, September 19.

5A #5 Hamilton Southeastern 41, 5A #11 Lafayette Jefferson 31 – The host Royals put the game away in this matchup of unbeatens by outscoring the Bronchos 17-0 in the first three minutes of the second half to increase what had been a 24-17 halftime lead to 41-17. HSE remains perfect on the year at 5-0, and Jeff suffered its first loss and now stands at 4-1. Noblesville 38, McCutcheon 33 – Noblesville improved to 2-3 in the conference, and McCutcheon dropped to 0-5. Harrison (West Lafayette) 41, 5A #13 Fishers 28 – Harrison halted the Tigers two game winning streak and upped its conference record to 3-2 in the process. Meanwhile, Fishers fell to 3-2 and now sits in a four-way tie for third place in the league along with Avon, Harrison, and Zionsville. Avon 30, Brownsburg 7 – The Orioles posted a blowout road victory against their Hendricks County rival and improved to 3-2 in the HCC. Brownsburg fell to 2-3 in the league with the setback. Click here to read about the game from Brian Kern courtesy of the Hendricks County Flyer Group.

Zionsville 35, Westfield 7 – Zionsville is now 3-2 in the conference after the win, and the Shamrocks are still searching for their first win at 0-5. Click here to read a game story from Will Willems courtesy of The Lebanon Reporter.

Girls Golf
Pike Sectional @ Eagle Creek – #15 Zionsville shot a team total 338 and finished second, 19 strokes behind champion #7 Carmel. The Eagles will now advance to the Franklin Central Regional on September 27 to be contested at Smock Golf Course. Westfield was the only other conference school participating in this Sectional; and the Shamrocks finished in fourth place with a 367 and failed to advance as a team to the regional. On the individaul front, 2008 HCC medalist Emily Dixon of Zionsville shot a 77 and finished runner-up to Carmel’s Ari Savich, who carded a 75. Meanwhile, Westfield’s Nicole Kuznia shot an 81 to qualify as an individual for next Saturday’s regional.

surprised Southeastern by taking game one 25-22. Jeff then rode its
momentum to a 21-18 lead in game two, before watching HSE win the final
seven points to take the game 25-21. The Royals then put the Bronchos
away in four games by winning the next two games 25-19, 25-17.

5A #12 Lafayette Jefferson 35, Noblesville 21 – Like Southeastern, the Bronchos are also 4-0, and they just happen to travel to Hamilton Southeastern next Friday for a first-place showdown in the HCC. GG: #4 HSE records 10-stroke victory over #2 Avon at Conference Tournament

CICERO – The 2008 Hoosier Crossroads Conference Girls Golf Championship was contested on a beautiful day for golf on September 8 at Bear Slide Golf Club in Cicero; and when the final put dropped fourth-ranked Hamilton Southeastern recorded a 10-stroke victory over the state’s second-ranked team, Avon.

Hamilton Southeastern, which was led by the 76 from senior Autumn Duke, posted a team total 323 to take the title on the par-72, 5,120-yard course.

The Royals’ other three contributing scores were turned in by: Brooke Beegle (79), Christina Beyerl (82), and Jen Blanchard (86).

Like Duke, Avon’s top golfer, senior Breanna Patz, also shot a 76 to lead the Orioles. However, Avon’s second, third, and fourth golfers shot ten strokes higher than did Southeastern’s, as the top-ranked Orioles recorded a team total 333.

Avon’s three other scores were recorded by: Mackenzie Smith (81), Becky Roberts (87), and Hannah Bailey (89).

On the individual front, Zionsville senior Emily Dixon fired a round of 1-over-par 72 to edge Noblesville junior Meghan Potee by one stroke for medalist honors.  Duke and Patz each finished in a tie for third place with rounds of 76.
