Football: Preview of all three HCC sectional championship games

Three Hoosier Crossroads Conference schools will be vying for sectional titles on Friday night, Nov. 7 during week #3 of the IHSAA football state playoffs.

Therefore, Hoosier Crossroads Conference Content Coordinator Eric Eaton returns for a third week of his HCC football state tournament preview show in which he breaks down the three games involving conference schools.

Note: This program will continue each week of the postseason as long as there is at least one HCC school still competing in the playoffs.

5A Sectional #4
Harrison (West Lafayette) 23, 5A #14 Kokomo 20 – Harrison (6-5) will travel to 5A #3 Carmel (10-1) next Friday night for a 7:00 P.M. rematch of last year’s sectional title game which was won by Carmel 49-7. 5A #3 Carmel 44, Lafayette Jefferson 21 – Lafayette Jeff led early by a score of 7-0, but the Greyhounds proved to be to much for the host Bronchos as Jeff’s season comes to an end at 6-5. 5A #9 Warren Central 56, Fishers 27
– Fishers concludes its season at 7-4. However, the Tigers win totals have gone from 1, to 6, and now 7 in just three years as a program!

5A Sectional #6
5A #13 Avon 35, 5A #5 Southport 21

Boys Cross Country State Finals
Here are the Hoosier Crossroads Conference team results from the state finals held in Terre Haute: #4 McCutcheon-3rd (153 points), #3 Fishers-5th (158 points), and #12 Noblesville-9th (286 points). Top-ranked Carmel won the state title with a score of 100 points. Individually, the following conference runners made the podium by finishing in the top-15: Drew Shields-1st (Fishers), Dylan Sorensen-4th (Zionsville), Blake Dircksen-5th (Noblesville), Alex Shields-7th (Fishers), and Robby Stewart-10th (McCutcheon). Drew Shields, whose winning time was 15:20, has already claimed individual state titles in track in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs. Also, Zionsville senior Dylan Sorensen was named the recipient of the mental attitude award. Click here to view all of the results from the state finals.

Girls Cross Country State Finals
Here are the Hoosier Crossroads Conference team results from the state finals held in Terre Haute: #3 Westfield-5th (177 points) and #5 Noblesville-8th (201 points). #1 Carmel won the state title with a score of 55 points, which was 105 points lower than that of runner-up #6 Lake Central. Individually, Fishers freshman
Makayla Schultheis was the top finishing conference runner, posting a 23rd place finish with a time of 19:02. Center Grove senior Sarah Higgens won the individual state title with a time of 18:14. Click here to view all of the results from the state finals.
